Tip of the Week: Auto add outside music to iTunes

Since there are so many sources for free and low cost music that are outside of the iTunes store, anyone with an iPod has been forced to manually add any of that music via the multiple steps required in the iTunes program.

With the release of version 9 of iTunes, there is finally an easier way to keep iTunes automatically updated with outside music.  Buried within your iTunes folder (typically under My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music) is a folder called 'Automatically Add to iTunes'.

By saving any third pary music files in this folder, it will automatically appear in your iTunes library and get synced to your iPod.

To create a Desktop shortcut to this folder, navigate to 'My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music' and right click on the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder.  Go to the 'Send To' option then select Desktop (create shortcut) which will put a shortcut to this buried folder on your Desktop!
