Tip of the Week: Watermark to protect your photos online

Digital pictures are so commonplace in our daily lives that they tend to exist in many places.  Uploading your photos to the Internet via photo sharing sites & social media means that those that don't know you personally may gain access to your photos.

In most cases, you can limit who has access to the photos to just those you authorize, but what can you do to reduce the chances of an unauthorized use of a publicly accessible photo?: Watermark them!

Adding copyright information or an obtrusive image on the photo will make it less usable by plagurists and you can "git 'er done" for free at PicMarkr.com

Headwhack of the Week: Free PDF to Word Converter

The Portable Document File (PDF) format introduced universal formatting for documents that worked on Windows, Mac or Linux systems regardless of what word processing system you used.

PDFs are locked down and can't be modified without special software, so often time folks try to copy portions out of the document and paste them into a Word document, which is a big pain.

To avert this headwhack, download the FREE PDF to Word Converter from HelloPDF.com

Geek Speak of the Week: Dweet

2) A Twitter tweet sent while on a date. A date tweet.

Security: 4 Hackers Indicted in $9.5 Million Bank Card Attack

Opinion:   Google can be your alibi

Wrongly accused? Got no alibi? If you turn on a new feature in Google Latitude it lets you retrace your footsteps - complete with timestamps. The fact that you can now re-play your life is a bit creepy, but it's your choice if you want to enable it or not.

Weekly Advice Column: Beating tech retail gimmicks
