Tip of the Week: Windows Vista/7 Quick Start Shortcuts

Microsoft A lesser known shortcut in Windows Vista & 7 is the ability to launch whatever is in the Quick Launch Toolbar (usually just to the right of the Start button) or what has been minimized to the Taskbar if you don't have the Quick Launch Toolbar activated.

Pressing Win+1 (the Windows logo key + 1) will launch the first program, Win+2 will launch the second and so on!

Headwhack of the Week: Quickly locking down your computer

If you live or work in an environment where you are surrounded by nosey humans, you may want to get in the habit of locking down your Desktop whenever you walk away from your computer.

Win+L will bring up the user sign on screen in an instant!

Security: Chrome OS security: 'Sandboxing' and auto updates

With most computers threatened by attacks coming through Web applications, it's no surprise that security would be a key piece of Chrome OS, Google's browser-based operating system that stores data in the cloud

News: Paper-thin batteries made from algae

Imagine wrapping paper that could be a gift in and of itself because it lights up with words like "Happy Birthday." That is one potential application of a new biodegradable battery made of cellulose, the stuff of paper.

News: A Retro PC Celebration

Gather the kids round your Apple II and enjoy these nostalgic, vaguely unsettling vintage ads.

Data Doctors Video on Cnn.com: Should I switch?

In the post live-anchor era of CNN.com, we are still working through the technical and production changes to our weekly video contributions to CNN.

Our first submission covered the question that many are facing today: Should I consider switching to a Mac...?

Weekly Advice Column: Taking better holiday pictures

It's the holiday season once again and taking lots of pictures with a digital camera that's been sitting in a drawer is a common scenario for a lot of people.

Digital cameras are quite different from their film cousins and understanding some basic elements will greatly improve the quality of your pictures.

This Week's Show: Preparing for Cyber Monday (or Tue, Wed, etc.)

Cyber Monday was coined in 2005 by shop.org to draw attention to the slight uptick in online activity the Monday after Black Friday.

This marketing campaign has lived on as a myth, since Cyber Monday is far from the busiest online shopping day of the year.

The data suggests that Dec 5-15 is the stretch when the most online purchases are made, so don't feel compelled to make all your purchases on Monday.

Having cleared that up, we want to focus this week's show on the resources that will help you become a wiser & more informed online shopper.

Listen in as the Data Doctors discuss many online resources as well as tips to becoming a better online shopper!

Join us Saturdays from 12:00PM-2:00PM (Mountain) on News 92.3 KTAR or listen LIVE via the Internet at KTAR.com  as we discuss your computer questions at: 602.277.5827 or ask your questions during (or before) the broadcast using the ask a question page.
