Poll of the Week:  Do you 'friend' your children on Facebook?

Tip of the Week: Mash the middle mouse button

The middle button (or pressing down on the wheel) is rarely used because there aren't that many great uses for them, but here's one we like:

The next time you want to open an Internet link to a new tab, click on the link with the middle button or the scroll wheel of the mouse! It works in any of the tabbed browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox and even Google's Chrome.

Headwhack of the Week: Downloading YouTube videos

Ever see a really great YouTube video and want to download it for your private collection?  Well, you aren't going to find a download button on YouTube, but you can git 'er done with this free app: YouTube Downloader 2.5.5  (Now works with HD 1080p videos)

Geek Speak of the Week: Bozo Filter

In general terms, any filter for electronic communications like e-mail, newsreaders or forum posts (and now Facebook) that allows you to filter out dispatches that come from certain people (Bozos).

Security: Blink to log in with your face

Tired of passwords and keyboards to log in to your computer? How about using your FACE?

There's more to your webcam than Chatroulette and Skype-powered confabs. Blink ties your Windows log-in to your face, supported by the facial-recognition algorithms of its publisher, Luxand (and it's FREE)

News: Google Android surpasses iPhone in U.S.

Google's Android operating system edged out Apple's iPhone operating system for the No. 2 spot in the U.S. consumer smartphone market in the first quarter of 2010 (RIM's Blackberry is still #1)

News: Startup's Kits Help You Hack Your Home

A few weeks ago, People Power introduced a kit it calls SuRF, for Sensor Ultra-Radio Frequency, that helps connect household appliances and gadgets to a wireless network in your house.

What that means is that you could monitor your microwave, Playstation and coffee machine in real time, check their levels of energy consumption, and make apps to control how they behave. Ultimately, that could lead to substantial savings of energy and money.

This Week's Show: Dealing with Internet Trolls

The term 'troll' on the Internet refers to the those that post inflammatory or controversial comments on forums, blogs or any online community in an effort to get a rise out of others.

They 'troll' online communities trying to bait others into confrontation for their own amusement; think of them as conversation hackers.

Why do these sad people do what they do? How should you handle them when they begin to take control of your favorite online community?

Listen in as the Data Doctors discuss this rather unsightly element that has long plagued the Internet and how the power of the people is putting them in their place!

Join us Saturdays from 12:00PM-2:00PM (Pacific) on News 92.3 KTAR or listen LIVE via the Internet at KTAR.com as we discuss your computer questions at: 602.277.5827 or ask your questions during (or before) the broadcast using the  ask a question page.
