Tip of the Week: Why Data Doctors uses TrendMicro for protection

One of the most common questions we get is which anti-virus protection do we recommend.  Over the years, we have recommended a variety of programs based on various factors that combine protection, with a low overhead and a package that doesn't constantly nag you to buy additional programs.

We have for years now sold the TrendMicro suite of protection in our stores and especially for our Quality Care customers because it does the best job of meeting all of our criteria.

Apparently, we aren't the only ones that favor Trend's methods as it continues to get top rankings from a variety of testing companies!

*If you want protection that never expires and want to avoid expensive surprises, get your computer covered by our Quality Care Secure program featuring Trend Micro software!

Headwhack of the Week: A Free alternative to PCAnywhere

Symantec's PCAnywhere remote access program has been around for a long time and was actually the first really popular way to remotely access your home or office computer.

If you own the program, you were told to shut it off this week because of major security issues that were discovered.

If you are ready to make a change or have been considering the purchase of PCAnywhere, might we recommend a free alternative?

We love and use LogMeIn for most of our general remote access needs on Macs or Windows PCs!

Mobile App of the WeekMobile App of the Week: Shazam Player

When the iPhone was first released, one of the applications that was used to show how cool this new platform was the music recognition app Shazam.

Whenever a song was being played, you simply opened the app to let it 'listen' and it figured out what it was and who sang it.

Now the folks at Shazam have introduced a music player that you may want to use instead of iTunes on your iPhone, iPod or iPad.

    Why?
Because it has LyricPlay which will help you know what the lyrics are when you play music from your library, so you won't have to make it up as you go along any more!
