What is a sheet-fed scanner?

Question

What scanner should I use to digitize more than 1400 mounted slides as quickly as possible, at the highest resolution possible? Is there a scanner that also digitizes 8mm home movie film?

thanks,

bob james, Tempe

P.S. Thanks for "The Computer Corner" on KTAR. It's a great show, both informative and entertaining! What a great public service!

To digitize more than 1400 mounted slides at the highest resolution possible will be quite a task, you will want to use a sheet-fed scanner. They're often faster than color-flatbed scanners and the newer models of the sheet-fed scanners are able to handle color and have a relatively high resolution. You will be able to find a sheet-fed scanner and your nearest local computer store. Make sure you do you research before purchasing. Unfortunately, there are no scanners that can handle 8mm home movie films. What you might want to try to do is running the film through a regular scanner and then adjust the properties to your liking. Good Luck!!
