Government launches new 'Consumer Products' recall web site!

CPSC chairman announced a new federal government web site that will display recall products. This new site is meant to help holiday shoppers be more aware of the products they buy, especially children's products. Six federal agencies with vastly different jurisdictions have joined together to create a site that provides a better solution to alerting the American people to unsafe, hazardous or defective products.

The site has the latest information on all the federal government recalls and the web address is easy to remember: www.Recalls.gov

The new site provides links to all federal agencies with statutory authority to issue recalls, including CPSC, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The chairman also urges Americans to examine older toys and products in their possession that can pose hazards.

Consumers can get the list of recalled toys and children’s products by going to the CPSC Web site, www.cpsc.gov, or by calling toll-free (800) 638-2772.
