The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) & Kyocera Wireless Corp. recently announced a voluntary recall of batteries used in its Smartphone cell phones. Kyocera is voluntarily recalling about 140,000 batteries in Kyocera cell phones. The recalled batteries can short-circuit and erupt with force or emit excessive heat, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

Four incidents of battery failures have been reported, including 1 minor burn injury. Kyocera Smartphone model 7135 with a product code ending in -05 printed on the underside are part of the recall.

Consumers with the recalled units should immediately stop using the battery in the cell phone. Kyocera Wireless will contact consumers to arrange for delivery of a free replacement battery.
