My taskbar is showing weird icons when i click certain buttons?

my task bar shows the start button but i can't push it because my arrow icon has the hour galss shape & all other icons are gone except for the time says "12:35F" not pm. there is a faint gray bar above the dark grey task bar. now that i am typing this to you nothing shows on my task bar except the hour glass shape.

This question was answered on June 3, 2004. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.
The way to fix this is to go to start, then control panel and double click the mouse icon, then click the pointers tab and scroll all the way down until you see the windows standard options and click that, then apply and ok, then your set. The reason this occurs is because somebody was editing the way they wanted the cursors to look.
