After our power was restored, I booted up computer and found out the computer was not detecting my mouse
Question
After hurrican Jeanne, we were without electricity for six days. After our power was restored, I booted up computer and found out the computer was not detecting my mouse. I made sure everything was connected properly and securely. I checked in control panel under pointers and found my mouse driver not installed. I went and bought a new ps/2 mouse, however, this mouse did not work either. Is there something I can check/do before I run out and buy another mouse and spend money taking my computer to the shop? Why isn't my computer detecting my mouse driver's?

Your problem seems to be the port for the mouse. Since you already spent money buying a mouse I would sugest taking it back to the store and swich it for a USB mouse.
Also what you could check before in going to the store go to add hardware in control panel and add the mouse manually, it also seems that your system is not recognizing this harware also look for the manuafacturers driver and try installing it.
