When I try installing any theme, I only get the wallpaper

Question

When I try installing any theme, I only get the wallpaper. However the start button turns into a classic style start button. Every other button stays the same. What should I do?

This question was answered on December 3, 2004. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

This is all to do with your Performance Settings, basically themes is disabled. This can be adjusted by doing the following:

Start Menu -> Right click My Computer -> Go to Properties -> then the Advanced tab -> and then click "Settings" in the "Performance Area". Then you want to select "Adjust for best appearance", click OK on all the dialogs and your done.
