What can I do to keep Microsoft Word from eating my inserted letters?

Question

When inserting a letter into a word the letter to the right of the new letter disappears! What do I do to not have my writing eaten up. I'm in Word. help!!!

Answer

This question was answered on September 8, 2005. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

You will need to tap your “Insert” key that is found between your “<-Backspace key” and “Home key”, then try inserting a letter. This should alleviate the problem of letters to the right of your inserted letter from disappearing.

Each time the “Insert” key is tapped it will either make the letter to the right disappear after you have entered a character or just let you insert a letter without any affect to the characters to the right.
