Do I need a battery for my laptop to work?
Question
Hi
Is it necessary to have a battery in order to operate a laptop if you have the adapter for the wall? I have a laptop that needs repair and a battery and have not used it in over a year. I am trying to save myself the expense of the battery if it is not necessary. I don't travel with it, if that helps, just for home use!

No, a laptop does not require a battery in order to operate. A battery is what makes is mobile; but it can still function by being plug into an outlet. Just don't leave it unplugged for a long time, like 10 years, or your laptop will lose the charge to keep data in memory.
