Do you need antispyware?

Question

I have Windows 98 SE. I upgraded or updated my Norton Antivirus from NAV 2003 to NAV 2005 --- my computer can't handle 2006 --- I had Spyware Begone BUT after I upgraded it gave me much trouble so I deleted it. Question: Since I have NAV2005 do I need antispyware, if so which one?

Spyware comes in many forms and your antivirus program will help protect you from the nasty forms of spyware. But there are other forms of spyware that may not be covered by Norton. There are free tools out there that do a great job. One is Spybot, you can find a free copy of it at www.download.com, just type in Spybot. Another program is Adaware which is available for free at www.lavasoft.com. Both programs do a good job, together they eliminate just about every spyware threat out there. It's best to run one and then run the other immediately after to cover your bases.
