What if I forgot my password?

i have a user name with an password but i forgot the password? i try safemode but the admistor has a password too but i dont know the password. what do i do? i dont want to reboot it but if its the only thing i can do then i will reboot it.

This question was answered on April 26, 2007. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.
If you are trying to log in to your Windows XP computer you should use your username and password that you created when you installed the operating system, but if you forgot the username and/or password, the only thing you can do is reinstall the operating system. When you reinstall it, Windows XP will prompt you to create a username and password that you should jot down somewhere and keep in a safe place.
