How can I recover my hard drive?

I recently recieved a harddrive error upon startup. I ended up buying another hard drive. However when I went to recover the lost items by slaving the two drives together, I found that I had lost everything. Is there a way to recover the lost data from my original hard drive?

Here are a couple of ideas. Make sure that you are using the right ide channels.You can even use them both as masters on different channels. These are done by making sure the jumpers are set correctly. There is always the option of using a data recovery service but be wary, these can tend to be expensive.
