Compaq has issued a System ROM update to fix compatibily issues with the AMD Duron processors used in the Presario 121xxx Series notebook models.
The models affected are:
Compaq Presario 1210JP, 1210EA, 1210CA, 1210US, 1210LA, 1211EA, 1211LA, 1211CA, 1212EA, 1212CL, 1213EA, 1213CL, 1214NE, 1214SR, 1214EA, 1215EA, 1215US, 1215JP, 1216JP, 1216EA, 1217JP, 1219JP
The update (Softpaq SP18183) is a download that creates a bootable disk that will update the System ROM chip with the fix.
The enhancement will do the following:
- Enables PowerNow support for Duron (Morgan) 800/850/900 MHz CPUs.
- Enables AMD SSE CPU function.
- Corrects AMD CPU Name String
