Laptop
Question
When i boot my 2701T compaq presario laptop i get 1 long 3 short 3 short and 1 long beeps. My computer was working fine until it froze and i had to reboot it.
I get a blank screen, cant get into bios. I hear the hard drive and cd-rom drive spin though. They power and keyboard lights come on. I can open the cd-rom drive too.
I did install a memory stick about 3 months ago but i took it out and it still beeps.

This question was answered on April 8, 2003. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.
Those long beeps mean that you have system error messages.
Im sure you may be able to go to your bios settings.
Usually the error message also enable you to allow the sys tem to trouble shoot itself.
somtimes not, which is where you must locate the error.
