Should I remove battery to preserve its life when using AC as power source?

I use my laptop as desktop replacement and AC as power source.
Should I remove the battery to preserve it's life and prevent any possible damage fro a battery "gone bad"?

This question was answered on July 21, 2003. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.
You can remove the battery, this will save the life on it. If you are using a AC as the power source only, then there is really no need to have to battery in the computer with the AC.
