MTBF: MTBF (Mean Time Between Faults) is the average time (usually expressed in hours) that a component is expected to work before failure. It implies the length of time a user may reasonably expect a device or system to work before an incapacitating fault occurs. For example, most hard drives have an MTBF ranging from 350,000 to 1 million hours depending on their make and model. That's between 40 and 115 years of continuous operation!
