The growing problem of 'Botnets'

Data Doctors Radio Program | Ken Colburn, Brandon Disney & Ken Moskowitz Most users of the Internet have no real understanding of the term botnet or worse, have never even heard of them, but every one of us is impacted every day by these rogue networks.

This collection of silently infected computers can be remotely controlled to send out spam, infect more computers or perform a Denial Of Service attack to bring down targeted websites.

The worst part is that many of you reading this right now are unknowingly part of a botnet that is attacking your cyber-neighbors on a nightly basis.

Listen in as the Data Doctors explain what these malicious networks are, how you can easily become a 'zombie' in the army and how you can protect yourself from the growing threat of botnets.

Join us every Weekend as we discuss your computer questions. You can post questions on Facebook or e-mail your questions during (or before) the broadcast using the ask a question page.

Geek Speak of the Week

C&C Server: Stands for Command & Control Server and is the single computer that has complete control over all of the infected computers in a botnet. The C&C Server is controlled by the 'bot-master' who decides what instructions they want to send out to all of the infected computers.
